Development Officer for Adults with Autism Spectrum Disorders
I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself. My name is Maria Cooper and I have recently been appointed to the exciting new role of Development Officer for Adults with Autism Spectrum Disorders, which also covers those young people going through transition from children’s services into adult services. I live in the county of Cambridgeshire.
The role is to help Cambridgeshire move forward in its implementation of the Autism Act. I am based at Red2Green who is working in partnership with the National Autistic Society. The project has been funded by Cambridge County Council for 2 years.
I am passionate about people with ASDs gaining acknowledgement, support and services to enable them to lead more fulfilling lives. I am aware of the difficulties faced by parent/carers.
I would like to hear from anyone who has any views on the services in Cambridgeshire and the services which you would like to see available for adults with ASD including higher functioning and Aspergers Syndrome.
Unfortunately, time restraints do not allow me to be an advocate for any one person or family but sharing your views and experiences with me will be the first step to improving and setting up provision for appropriate support for people with ASDs.
