We are launching a new campaign, You Need To Know, which will demand better mental health services for children with autism. Autism is not a mental health problem, but research shows that 70% of children with autism have one or more mental health problems. This does not have to happen. We are calling on the Government to improve mental health services for children with autism: our launch in Parliament will be the first step toward this.
Thousands of children suffer mental health problems. Needlessly.
Mental health problems are not an inevitable part of autism and the right support at the right time can make all the difference. And yet too many children with autism are being let down by a mental health system that fails to understand this.
The NAS is launching a new campaign called You Need To Know which is calling on the Government and NHS to provide better mental health services for children with autism.
"Almost the first thing the psychiatrist did was to hold up their hands and say. 'We have no services in this health district for children on the autistic spectrum'."

We need your help to make sure the Government gives this issue the priority it deserves. It only takes 30 seconds to take part. Look up your MP by typing your postcode into our online form and you can email them the message we've already written. That's all it takes to make a difference.
Many thanks for your ongoing support of the NAS
