Sarah Oakley is an independent health visitor able to support disabled children and their families in a number of ways.

I am an independent health visitor and lactation consultant based in Ely and covering the whole of Cambridgeshire, West Suffolk and West Norfolk. I am the mother of a teenage boy with autistic spectrum disorder so I have a personal, as well as professional, interest in disabled children and their families.
As an independent health visitor I am able to support disabled children and their families in a number of ways including:
- Co-ordinating services
- Referrals and reports to other professionals
- Facilitating effective communication between parents, professionals and service providers
- Information on services available and support in accessing them
- Emotional and psychological support for parents
- Support with managing challenging behaviour
- Identification of developmental needs
- Help with DLA forms, accessing grants for equipment, etc
As I am not employed by a statutory agency like health or social care I am free to challenge professional decision making on your behalf and to work to represent you and your family without any conflict of interest.
