Work to Success: Project to provide support towards gaining employment

Next Steps, part of Advocacy Partners Speaking Up, have just begun planning a new and exciting project aiming at supporting individuals that are on the Autistic Spectrum working towards gaining employment. This could be anything from developing and enhancing work ready skills, confidence building, finding work placements, support with application forms, CV’s and interviews and where appropriate finding employment. We aim to work with employers too so that they are aware of how to make reasonable adjustments within the work place to create a supportive, accessible and non threatening environment for individuals with ASD.

We are planning on offering a predominantly one to one service, possibly with the option of group work if this is requested, using a person centered approach where the individual will pick the area/s that they think they require support with. The project is focused around work, and not general life skills, so that this will fit in with whatever the individual already takes part in whether this be college, day placements or recreational activities. Initially this service will be FREE up until April and the length and structure of the service will be planned with individuals depending on their needs.

So if you, or you know of anyone who has a lot to offer and have an interest in gaining work in the future then please give us a call we would love to hear from you.
